- Keep your engine oil properly lubricated by keeping the engine oil lever at the proper level.
- It is normal for an engine to consume some engine oil.
- Check the oil level at regular intervals such as every times you stop for fuel.
- In order to get an anccurate reading, the oil must be warm and the vehicle must be on level ground.
- If the engine oil pressure warning lamp on the instrument panel comes on, you need to check the engine oil level right away.
CHECKING ENGINE OIL LEVEL
- Park vehicle on level ground.
- After stopping engine, wait a few minutes to allow oil to drain back into oil pan, if engine is cold, oil will take longer to drain into the pan.
- Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean.
- Re-insert dipstick completely.
- Pull the dipstick out again.
- Check the oil on the dipstick to make sure it is not contaminated.
- Check oil level, as shown on the dipstick. Oil should be between MIN and MAX.
